While a person is pregnant, it is very important to make sure they do not eat something that is harmful for their baby not only for the baby's protection, but also for the mother's health. Babies get their food from what their mother eats and it is very important that the mother eats a healthy diet. Most women do not like the amount of weight that is needed to be gained in order to have a healthy baby, but with the proper dieting, the weight will not be too bad and it will be easy to lose. During pregnancies, it is important to avoid eating raw meats like seafood including sushi, deli meats including hot dogs, refrigerated smoked sea foods, raw eggs, fish high in mercury, soft cheese, refrigerated meat spreads, liver, unpasteurized milk and juices, and of course alcohol. All of them may contain some type of bacteria, poison, or may be contaminated with something harmful to a baby. Caffeine is also not good because it increases the risk of miscarriages within the first trimester. A person who consumes 200 milligrams or more of caffeine each day which is about 2 or more cups of coffee or 5 12-oz cans of soda, is at risk of having a miscarriage. What is good to eat is a lot of fatty foods because it helps the baby develop its brain. Trans fat are not fats that should be consumed while pregnant. It is in certain oils that are made for some fast food restaurants so checking the labels on food is very important. Obviously, fruits and vegetables are a very important source for a babies nutrition.
